Postponement of the 2020 NMGS Conference
The Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS) has announced the postponement of its 56th Annual International Conference and Exhibition till further notice.
This was necessitated by the directives from the Health Authorities at the Federal and State Governments levels, on the need to limit social interactions among crowd exceeding 50 till further notice as a result of the prevailing COVID19 issue in the country.
In a statement released by the President of the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society, Engr. O. S. Nkom (FNMGS), he said
Let me assure you that the Council did not arrive at this painful but necessary decision easily.
It was a decision reached after careful deliberation and consultation within Council and with
very senior members of the Society.
It is the prayer of Council that our nation and the world at large beat this epidemic soonest to
allow us all a return to normalcy. Please be assured of the sanctity and fidelity of the
registration of members who have pre-registered for the conference, as the NMGS remain
committed to her obligations to her esteemed members. The new dates for the conference will
be communicated when the decision is made.
The conference was expected to hold in Ibadan, Oyo State.
